Theatre Education teaches so much more than acting, dancing and singing. Children who are educated in the performing arts have a stronger sense of literacy, self-expression and esteem, interpersonal communication, and collaboration. At Muncie Civic Theatre, we strive to provide quality K-12 Theatre Education programming that is collaborative, inclusive and opens a child’s imagination to all life has to offer.

Students in grades K – 2 participate in fun, foundational, educational experience that teach confidence building, listening, cooperation, and beginning performance skills.

Act 1:

Students in grades 3 – 6 will both build on the foundation established in Preludes while welcoming new students who are exploring their interest in performing arts.  This program teaches rigorous performing arts standards including:  collaboration, responsibility, self-expression, and intermediate performance skills.

Act 2:

Students in grades 7 – 12 will be challenged in this program

while welcoming new students who are exploring their interest in performing arts. This program builds on the rigourous skills established in Act 1. Their shows include singing, dancing, and serious acting. The program’s goals are:  self-awareness, professionalism, endurance, and inclusion.

We are excited to introduce our newest addition to the Youth Education Program, the Encore group.  The talent developed at Civic has prompted an elite, audition driven play.  We are excited to give our most talented actors a chance to push their limits creatively.  This program will challenge even our most experienced actors, but is open to any youth to audition.  Unlike our other youth programs where all students are given roles, similar to a mainstage show, roles are through audition only.  We have one goal with this program:  Excellence.
